Titus: An Introduction

We are preparing to embark on a new verse by verse study through Paul’s letter to Titus. Today, however, we will be looking at the book of Titus through a broad lens. We begin by examining its canonical and historical background, as well as when and where it was written. We will discover who its main characters are, and the themes encountered throughout. Was this letter written for Titus’ eyes only? Or was a letter like this meant for public consumption, its lessons and meaning applying to the broader church as a whole? What is the importance of sound doctrine and leading godly lives? Please join us this week for our sermon titled, “Titus: An Introduction” as we begin our new series and attempt to answer these questions. It is our prayer that this message would be used to glorify our Lord & Savior. And that it would help us to grow in knowledge of Him and live our lives in a manner that is worthy of and fully pleasing to Him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Visit Salem Reformed Baptist on the web at: https://www.salemreformedbaptist.org on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/salemreformedbaptist on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/@salemreformedbaptist on SermonAudio at: http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/SalemReformedBaptist Our sermons can also be found on Apple Podcasts, Google, Spotify, Pandora, and others. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This sermon was delivered on July 30th, 2023 by Pastor Gustavo “Guga” Barros at Salem Reformed Baptist in Salem, Oregon.

The Pastoral Office (Part V)

The sermon starts at the 16:57 minute mark. This week we conduct a special Lord’s Day service. First presenting five new members into our fold and then welcoming a new elder to shepherd over the flock of Salem Reformed Baptist. In our sermon we continue to examine what it means to conduct oneself blamelessly. Not only, though necessarily, for our leaders, but also for all who claim Christ as their Lord and Savior. We will continue to examine the necessary character of those who are, or those who are seeking, to lead the church of Jesus Christ as outlined in Titus 1:7-8. What exactly does it mean to be upright, righteous, or just? What about holiness? Join us this week for “The Pastoral Office (Part V)” as we look to consecrate our lives to God and pursue answers to these questions from a biblical standpoint. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sermon Timeline: 00:00 Introduction 01:04 Introductory Prayer 02:28 Presentation of New Members 03:55 Presentation of New Elder 07:00 Elder Vows 10:16 Acts 20 & Prayer 15:54 Congregational Public Affirmation 16:57 Sermon Start - Titus 1:5-9 This sermon was delivered on October 8th, 2023, by Pastor Gustavo “Guga” Barros at Salem Reformed Baptist in Salem, Oregon.

The Shepherd's Rod (Part II) - Titus 1:12-14

Falling on the last Sunday in the month of October every year, this Lord’s Day is known as “Reformation Sunday." Within the Reformed tradition it's when we acknowledge and celebrate the work Jesus Christ did for His church through the Reformers. In this week’s sermon we continue our examination of the pastors charge to protect God’s flock found in Titus 1:10-16, a charge that implies there is indeed an inherit threat & danger. We will focus more specifically at the pastor’s role to rebuke false teachers encountered within the church as outlined in Titus 1:12-14. Are there many such false teachers for us to be worried about? What do false teachers look like and what sorts of unbiblical things do they espouse today in our Western and progressive culture? What are the reasons for rebuking a false teacher? We pray you’ll join us this week for “The Shepherd’s Rod (Part II)” as we seek biblical answers and look to honor God through preaching the truth of His Word. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This sermon was delivered on October 29th, 2023, by Pastor Gustavo “Guga” Barros at Salem Reformed Baptist in Salem, Oregon.

The Shepherd's Rod (Part III) - Titus 1:12-16

During our sermon this week we continue our examination of the pastor's charge to protect God’s flock from false shepherds. This an obligation we find in Titus 1:10-16, and indeed an inherent threat & danger churches must protect against. We will focus more specifically on the pastor’s responsibility to rebuke false teachers sharply, as well as keep them away from the flock of God as outlined in Titus 1:12-16. What do false teachers look like and what sorts of unbiblical “myths” do they espouse today? Do Mormons, Seventh-Day Adventists, or even proponents of the King James Bible as the only inspired English translation fit the description of those who devote themselves to unbiblical myths? Please join us this week for “The Shepherd’s Rod (Part III)” as we seek answers and look to glorify God through preaching the truth of His Word. *** Around the halfway mark of the sermon we started experiencing a technical issue with our recording equipment this week. The audio sounds fine, however the video will flicker rapidly at points.
