Gustavo "Guga"  Barros

Gustavo C. de Barros, affectionately known to the flock he shepherds as "Guga," is the Teaching Elder at Salem Reformed Baptist Church.

Pastor Guga was born and raised in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. As a Brazilian he is a big fan of the true "football" and of a strong cup of coffee.

He traveled to Portland, Oregon in 2002 to study Theology and it was there that he met his wife Rachel and acquired his Bachelor of Theology (BTh). In 2007 Gustavo, Rachel, and Isabella (their oldest daughter) moved to Brazil, where he planted and pastored a church. Then in 2013 he and his family returned to the USA, to Salem, Oregon to pursue further studies and to pastor. He has a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) through Reformed Baptist Seminary.

Gustavo and Rachel have five children; Isabella, Emily, Lilliana, Stephan, and Apollo.

Joseph K. Wipff, III

Joseph K. Wipff, III, known as Joseph or “J.” is an Elder at Salem Reformed Baptist Church.

Joseph was born and raised in Texas. He was born in Fredericksburg but grew up in a number of places in South Texas, near the Rio Grande River. Growing up he spent many summers with his grandparents on their farm outside of Fredericksburg. His father was a rancher but worked for a number of years in county law enforcement, then a Texas Game Warden and finally back to ranching on the family cattle ranch (est. 1882) in South Texas. In middle school he moved to Del Rio and grew up working on the family cattle ranch until the early 1980’s.

After High School he acquired a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Natural Resource Management (Rangelands) at Texas Tech University, a Masters of Science (M.S.) in Plant Systematics and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Plant Biosystematics at Texas A&M University.

Like Gustavo, Joseph loves Scripture, Reformed Theology, and a very strong cup of coffee.

Joseph and Annette have six children and eight grandchildren.
