Forgiveness

In our current sermon series we're taking a closer look at the topic of forgiveness. Central to the Bible's grandly woven story of redemption and restoration of God's people, the idea of forgiveness is mentioned quite frequently in Christian circles.  Do we truly understand what it means to be forgiven though? Do we truly understand how God has been achieving this since "The Fall" in the Garden? What about forgiving others? Are we supposed to just "forgive and forget" as we so often hear?
